Or – Answers to questions nobody asked, but we want to tell you anyway.
Where do you source your ingredients?
Thanks for asking! Since we’re not millionaires (yet!) we do some shopping for basics (cage free eggs, Kerrygold butter, King Arthur AP Flour, Organic Cane Sugar, avocado oil and coconut oil) at Costco of course.
A LOT of our spices (for French Girl, Salty Olde BAE, Hold my Beer) are from Penzey’s Spices, who we LOVE.
The chocolate for our dark chocolate confections (filled chocolates, peanut butter cups) and chocolate almond biscotti is Organic Couverture Chocolate with 66% cacao (Organic Cocoa Mass, Organic Cane Sugar and Organic Cocoa Butter); the milk chocolate we use is Organic Milk Chocolate Couverture with 46% cacao solids (organic sugar, organic deodorized cacao fat, organic chocolate liquor, organic whole milk powder, organic cocoa powder and organic vanilla powder); the white chocolate is White Chocolate Couverture (white chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, whole milk powder, nonfat dry milk, soy lecithin (emulsifier), natural vanilla extract) – the dark, milk, and white chocolates listed are all from Santa Barbara Chocolate.
The maple syrup in our “100 Acres in Vermont” maple bourbon pecans are from Moose Mountain Maple in Vermont, and the bourbon is from a local distillery – Boardroom Spirits.
Our whole wheat flour and rye flour are from Castle Valley Mill in Doylestown.
Everything else is from all over the place (Azure Standard, restaurant supply stores, and yes, Amazon even though we try to support local and/or small business as much as possible) , but the one thing we do not skimp on is QUALITY. If you start with quality, fresh ingredients, it makes a world of difference in the final product! If you have any questions about any of our ingredients or products please don’t hesitate to ask – we are big on transparency!
Ok, that was just one question….. (That is why it says FAQ and not FAQ’S.)
